Walter Archer Bourchier Savile was born in the 1st quarter of 1898 at Chiddingfold, Surrey, the son of Paymaster in Chief, Bourchier Beresford Savile, Royal Navy, and Mary Louisa Savile.
In 1911, Walter and his family were living at 5, Belmont Place, Devonport.

The undermentioned Gentleman Cadets, from the Royal Military Academy, to be Second Lieutenants. Dated the 27th of October 1915;
Walter Archer Bourchier Savile.
Walter was accepted as an observer, on probable movement, in the RFA on the 17th of October 1916.

Walter joined the 52nd Squadron on the 30th of December 1917 and moved to the 2nd squadron on the 18th of May 1918.
Walter was with the 52nd Squadron on the 26th of March 1918 when he was wounded.
Walter was wounded and hospitalized on the 27th of May 1918 and was discharged back to duty on the 11th of June 1918. Walter's home address was 7, Albion Hill, Exmouth.
Walter was posted to the 21st squadron on the 20th of June 1918.
Walter was posted to the 6th squadron in Ramadi, Iraq on the 13th of August 1924.
Iraq Command was the Royal Air Force (RAF) commanded inter-service command in charge of British forces in Iraq in the 1920s and early 1930s, during the period of the British Mandate of Mesopotamia. It continued as British Forces in Iraq until 1941 when it was replaced by AHQ Iraq. It consisted of Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Commonwealth, and locally raised units, commanded by an RAF officer normally of Air Vice-Marshal rank.

The 5th of May 1924 - The fusiliers were reinforced by air with two additional infantry platoons. No. 30 Squadron RAF carried out thorough air reconnaissance of the Kirkuk district.
Walter was again injured when he overran the airfield on landing due to a tailwind.
On the 12th of November 1924, Walter was uninjured when a Bristol Fighter ran out of fuel and f/l on top of trees. AR Pearce had a slight injury.
Walter married Muriel V Andrews in the 3rd quarter of 1936 at Chelsea, London.
Walter Archer Bourchier Saville was entitled to the War Medal 1939-1945. This medal was awarded to all full-time service personnel who had completed 28 days service between 3rd September 1939 and the 2nd September 1945. Walter had been “Mentioned In Despatches” and was entitled to wear a bronze oak leaf emblem on the ribbon.
Walter Archer Bourchier Saville died on the 27th of June 1988 at Dover, Kent.
