2nd Lieutenant Harry Arthur Corbett, B.A. age 22. Harry, born in Staines in 1892, was the only son of William and Fanny Corbett, of Staines.
Shown on 1901 census at Hurstpierpoint and on 1911 census living with his mother, a widow, at Fleet, Hampshire; he was an undergraduate at Oxford University.
Educated at Hurstpierpoint School and Wadham College, Oxford, Harry obtained a commission in 3rd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment on 5 August 1914.
Assigned to 1st Battalion, Devonshire Regiment he was wounded at Ypres on 9th May 1915; after his recovery he returned to the Front where he was wounded again in March 1916 and invalided home.
At some stage he was attached to the 1/6th Gloucester Regiment. He returned to the front shortly before being posted missing on 22/23 July 1916.
