The 1901 census shows Florence's mother as Florence Elizabeth Warren (née Deacon), born c. 1860 in Cardiff, Wales, Florence's father was Frederick William Warren born c. 1855 in Exeter, Devon, England (he was employed as a bank manager with the National Provincial Bank from 1898 to 1918).
At that time Florence was living with her parents and a live-in general servant at Bank Street Teignmouth.
The 1901 census also shows Florence as born in Penarth, Glamorganshire, Wales c. 1888.
Major Frederick (Tez) Robert Fulford Warren
Florence had a younger brother (Frederick R. Warren c. 1885), he was shown with the family on the 1891 census, he later became Major Frederick (Tez) Robert Fulford Warren and served with the 14th Battalion (1st Portsmouth) Hampshire Regiment.
Frederick was killed in action at the Somme, 22 October 1916 aged 31).
The VAD records show Florence gave Cambria, Shaldon, Devon as her permanent address when she joined VAD in 1915.
Florence was engaged with VAD as a nurse from June 1915 to March 1917, she served at the Voluntary Aid Hospital, Newton Abbot, Devon and the Town Hall Red Cross Hospital, Torquay, Devon. She worked part-time and served for 1392 hours.

Note: there are three other women with the name "Florence Mary Warren" with records registered at Newton Abbot during this time, for each of those "Warren" was their married name. The Florence who lived in Shaldon was a "Miss Warren" on her VAD card.
