Private Edwin (Eddie) Johnson age 23.
Born 4 August 1893 and baptised at West Teignmouth on 3 December, the son of Captain Charles WilliamJohnson and his wife Rose Edna, his father became the harbour master. Eddie was born at 3 Shute Hill Terrace and was living there with his family in 1901. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist School and is remembered on the Wesleyan Roll of Heroes.
By 1911 he was living with his parents and sister at 2 Brimley House and working as apprentice draper.
Eddie was serving with 10th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, service number 16727,in Salonika when he was reported as missing on 24 April. He was later confirmed as killed in action on 25 April 1917.
