Private Frederick Kingdon/Kingdom age 23*.

Born in 1893 and baptised in Filleigh on 22 March 1894, the son of William, a gardener and groom, and Martha, they are living at Filleigh Rectory Lodge. By 1901 his mother had been widowed and was working as a laundress, Frederick was living with her alone. The 1911 census showed him working as a domestic groom at Escot House, Ottery St. Mary. He married Lucy Bastin in 1916, she was from Ottery St. Mary.

His military record in name of Kingdom shows that he was living in Teignmouth and was possibly connected to the Kingdon family who were ironmongers at 26 Regent Street. He was possibly confused with Harold Finning Kingdon born 1896, the only son of Lucy of 26 Regent Street, who was injured in 1917 and invalided from the Army, but survived the war and died in 1969.
