Sapper Arthur Henry Mayland age 25.
Born West Teignmouth 18 December 1892 and baptised 14 March 1893, only son of Henry and Harriett Mayland, 6 Ferndale Road, Teignmouth.
In 1901 he was living with his widowed father, who was a clerk with Great Western Railway (GWR), at 11 Belgrave Terrace, Teignmouth.
Still living with his widowed father in 1911 they were now in Brixham where his father was Station Master at the GWR station; Arthur was working as a junior clerk for a brewing company.
Arthur enlisted at Dartmouth in 1914 with 7th (Cyclists) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, service number 1088.

He later transferred to 3rd Field Survey Company, Royal Engineers as a Sapper, service number 515923.
The Western Times reported on 4 April 1918 that he was wounded in both legs and feet. Arthur died of his wounds at Bath Hospital on 12 April 1918.
