Private Charles Herbert John Tutton age 32.
Born at Biddesham, Somerset in 1885 and baptised on 5 January 1885 at St. Mary Redcliffe, Bristol, the son of Clement, a farmer, and Sarah Alice Tutton. At the time of his death they were recorded at Quantock House, Bleadon, Somerset. (Birth, baptismal and marriage records show his full name was Charles Herbert John Tutton, however military records omit Charles.)
The 1891 census showed him with his parents and siblings living in Loxton, Axbridge, Somerset. In 1901 Charles was still living Cowslip Farm, Loxton and working as a farmer for his father.
In 1909 he married Florence Charlotte Hull, registered at Newton Abbot. She was later shown as a widow living at 11 Mulberry Street, Teignmouth.

Charles was residing in Teignmouth when he enlisted at Croydon with 4th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, service number G/60444. He was serving with this regiment when he was one of the many killed in action during the Spring Offensive on 28 March 1918. Remembered on Arras Memorial, France.
