Private Arthur Vivian Evans age 36.
Born in Teignmouth on 13 April 1880 Arthur was baptised on 7 September, his parents were Alfred and Mathilda Evans and his father was the curate of St James’ Church.
The 1881 census showed them living in Barn Park Terrace. The 1891 census showed him in Hammersmith living with his widowed father and several siblings.
In 1911 he was living with his wife and two children and boarding at 22 Vining Street, Brixton; he was working as a printer machine minder. Although he was listed as married on the 1911 census he actually married Rhoda A Ely in 1915.
When war broke out Arthur enlisted at Lambeth with the 11th Reserve Battalion, Cavalry Regiment, service no. 14620. In 1915 he served in the Balkans.

Arthur was serving with 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment, service no. 16914, in France when he was killed in action on 1 May 1916 at Mesnil Ridge.
